The Manhattan Project National Historical Park was established on November 10, 2015. The Friends of MAPR-LA was formed as a philanthropic partner of the National Park System. As 501(c)3, the Friends of MAPR-LA strengthen the Manhattan Project National Historical Park - Los Alamos and its ability to share its stories with a diverse audience through education, voluteerism and financial resources.
The funds raised are for the Los Alamos, New Mexico unit of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park under the auspices of the National Park Service (NPS). Working in conjunction with the NPS, the Friends of MAPR-LA support the park with financial resources for agreed upon efforts to improve the park and its efforts to present the historical relevance and importance of the Manhattan Project.
